Republicans Continue Fight Against Obamacare
In the ever present battle to defund, derail, and deactivate Obamacare, Republicans are issuing another strategy, and this time it is to let states opt out of Obamacare mandates. As many Americans forget our country is based on the balance of power between the federal and state governments, this is actually not too bad of an idea. It gives states the power to either choose or not choose to adhere to Obamacare’s regulations, and also offers tax credits for health savings accounts.
This effort is led by Senator Bill Cassidy from Louisiana. The bill, called Patient Freedom Act, also protects individuals who have lost their health insurance under Obama’s healthcare law. As many of you may remember, the promise President Obama made that “if you like you’re healthcare plan, you can keep it,” was quickly broken, and many now are forced to sign up for Obamacare or are without health insurance. This bill will also protect those 7.5 million people who have Obamacare, and may lose it if the Supreme Court finds the law unconstitutional next month.
