“Cruz Control”

Fox News is absolutely eating up the controversy the far right is creating over the defunding of Obamacare. Despite the Democratic controlled senate, Cruz is seeking to represent the far right and majority of House members in the fight to defund Obamacare. He has asked Senator Harry Reid to make the bill a 60-vote threshold to vote for Obamacare instead of a simple majority. Cruz told Fox News that this is an abuse of power, and that “the majority is going to run the minority over with a train.” The far right is making this as hard on Republicans as possible, and the Heritage Foundation said they will use their vote for the CR on their conservative scorecard. Sarah Palin, former Governor of Alaska and another Fox News favorite, said that it is time for the senate to go on “Cruz control.” In an article she wrote for Breitbart News, she said that Republicans are afraid of the media who will blame them for a government shutdown, but she said this does not matter because the media blames Republicans any time something bad happens. Moreover, the House passed a CR to keep the government in operation, and also spoke for what the American people actually want. Palin said that Obamacare costs will be detrimental to American families who are already pinching families, and small businesses will also hire less employees in order to avoid increasing healthcare costs. She wants to be very clear, “Republicans in Congress aren’t advocating a government shutdown.” Cruz released a statement that the senator will evoke cloture to keep the bill open for debate and make sure that Obamacare continues to be defunded. The statement says, “Americans want Congress to pass a bill that funds government but defunds Obamacare, and the House worked hard to pass one. Senator Reid must to be allowed to add Obaamcare funding back into the House-passed bill.” Rand Paul appeared on Fox News and he said that they should not give “Obamacare a penny, and he won’t vote to fund it at all.” He said that the people in the House want the people to stand up and fight against Obamacare. Senator Paul said that he will introduce an amendment to Obamacare that makes all Congressmen have Obamacare, as most lawmakers are exempted from this law. If the House says defund, the Senate says defund, maybe there can be a compromise where they meet in the middle. Senator Paul appeared on Fox and Friends where he vocally said he would fight against Obamacare, in contrast to his language last week that said he did not see an end-game in sight, and that a government shutdown should be avoided. Senator Graham also appeared on Fox News today, where he said that Obamacare “sucks.” He said that the majority vote will allow Republicans to save face by voting against it, but also allow the government to stay  in operation. Graham said, “Obamacare is going over like a lead balloon in this economy. The only way we can screw it up is make it about us.”
