FIve Years Later, Still Silence

The Keystone Pipeline has been a topic of conversation for Republican lawmakers for the past five years. This pipeline would pass from Canada, through the west, and then export oil from the United States. Those in favor of this pipeline show the millions of jobs this would create, and those opposed say that it would be detrimental to the environment. With 42,00 new jobs, lawmakers are arguing that this is a “no brainer.” More than 80 percent of Americans are also in favor of this construction. The pipeline now has bipartisan support, but Obama keeps finding excuses to veto the bill. As Obama prides himself on issuing legislation that grows the middle class, it is shocking that he would be against such huge job creation. The pipeline bill is now going into an unprecedented sixth year, and lobby groups will have to work extra hard to pressure the Obama administration to open its eyes.
