Republicans Serious About Obamacare

The new fiscal year is starting in 10 weeks, and conservatives are using this as a prime opportunity to defund the healthcare law. On the senate floor last week, Senator Lee from Utah said the law was unfair and unaffordable. In his speech he said,  “A joint report by Republicans on the House Energy and Commerce, Senate Finance, and Senate HELP committees that looked at over 30 different studies concluded that “Recent college graduates with entry-level jobs who are struggling to pay off student loan debt could see their premiums increase on average between 145 and 189 percent. Some studies estimate young adults could experience premium increases as high as 203 percent.”  In my state of Utah, premiums for young people will jump anywhere from 56 to 90 percent.” He has now decided on a new avenue to stop the law from going into effect, and that is through getting his fellow conservatives on board to not allow any part of the budget to pay for its implementation. Senator Lee told Fox News, “If Republicans in both houses simply refuse to vote for any continuing resolution that contains further funding for further enforcement of Obamacare, we can stop it.” The individual mandate will go into effect soon after, and he views the CR as the last way to thwart the process. If Congress cannot pass a budget, there is threat of a government shut down.
