Governor Perry Will Not Run Again in 2014
“Today, I am announcing I will not seek reelection for Governor of Texas.” Governor Perry spoke today in San Antonio after much anticipation that he will not stand for the historic fourth term as Texas governor. He will, however, actively use his remaining months to create new jobs and do the best he can before he vacates the position. Governor Perry has not said whether he will be seeking a second shot at the presidency, or if the recent low polling numbers in his favor are reasons for his decision. Perry has made national news recently due to his battle for passing anti-abortion bills in his state. “Texas is a place where we defend life,” he told Fox News, and he will continue to fight to ensure the law passes before he leaves his role as governor. Now, the Texas Republicans will be scrambling to find a new candidate.
