House Republicans Focus On Employer Mandate

President Obama has used the holiday weekend to implement yet another facet to his already very long healthcare reform bill. The newest push is an employer mandate. Republicans in the House, who will be focusing on this bill next week, are using this opportunity to go on the attack. According to Emma Dumain reporting for Roll Call, “Republicans will have to pick a strategy. Leaders have to decide whether to try and capitalize by advancing a bill repealing the mandate. Rep. Charles Boustany Jr., R-La., has proposed a bill that would repeal just the employer mandate, which could gather steam after lack of action since its late February introduction.” Certain Congressmen are also questioning the legality of the mandate. Republican leadership is continuing its pursuit to fully repeal the law, and this would be another hindrance to its long, drawn out journey. To read more, please visit
